The Prescott Champions Vintage Base Ball Club is committed to preserving the history of 19th century base ball, promoting the playing and study of the national game, and actually playing the game as it was played in the 1860's. The club has taken its name from a team that played in Prescott, Arizona in the 1870's. Our intention is to honor that team by playing an authentic game of ball using the rules that were created at about the same time that Prescott was settled.

NEWS

On Saturday February 15th the Prescott Champions traveled to Ft. Verde to take part in the honoring of the Buffalo Soldiers by playing a couple of 1860-rules base ball matches. Both offense and defense came together to win both games against the pesky Excelsiors. There was a larger-than-normal number of spectators throughout the day, which adds to the fun. We also picked up a new player, "Slick" Schleicker (try saying that 5 times real fast!!!) Welcome Slick. In addition, we introduced the vintage game to a couple of youngsters: A.J. and "Soy Sauce".....hopefully we'll be seeing more of these guys too.
We officially have confirmed dates for our spring and summer home schedule. Other than the game in March, all the rest take place at 7 pm. Most events will feature a food truck. The games take place at Ken Lindley Field, 702 E. Gurley St., Prescott, and are always free!!
March 14                 11 am
April 25                  7 pm
May 16                    7 pm (no food truck this date)
June 20                  7 pm
July 25                   7 pm
August and September dates have not been firmed up yet. We should be able to announce those dates next month.
The team is always looking for men and women who would like to join us in paying homage to America's national pastime by playing the game as it was played in its early development. Once you see us play you'll realize that no special skills are required; just a love of the game and its history.
